SMRITI IRANI

Smriti Irani is one of the most popular faces on TV today. She started out as a Miss India contestant in 1998 and made it to the final 5. After a long struggling phase, she finally got her big break with Balaji Telefilms’ cult serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Smriti's character Tulsi has become the quintessential wife, mother and family member on Indian television. The huge success of the show and the continued patronage of the largely female audience of the show have been instrumental in changing the fortunes of the production house Balaji Telefilms and in setting the trend for tearjerker family dramas on Indian television.

Today Smriti is a successful television producer. She runs her own production house ‘Ugraya Entertainment’, that produced Viruddh for Sony television and is currently producing Mere Apne for 9X. Currently, she can be seen acting in serials like Mere Apne on 9X and Teen Bahuraniyan on Zee TV. She is also an active member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and runs her own NGO.

“Vodafone Yeh Hai Jalwa gives the common man an opportunity to mingle
and compete with celebrities wherein the audience vote is supreme. That
for me was the main attraction of my first Reality Dance Show as a host. I
am looking forward to seeing the show on air”.

SAAKSHI TANWAR
Saakshi Tanwar was born on January 12, 1973 in a middle class family in Alwar, Rajasthan. She studied at the Lady Sri Ram College in Delhi University. She is best known for her role of Parvati in the popular television soap Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Like Tulsi, Sakshi's character Parvati is also seen as the quintessential Indian woman, the perfect mother, wife and bahu that any Indian family would want.

“I love dancing, and Vodafone Yeh Hai Jalwa was the perfect opportunity to be part of a dance-based show without actually competing. The concept is very unique – nine teams of common people will be getting an opportunity to showcase their talent under the leadership of their favourite television stars. I am looking forward to their performances”

Like Kyon Ki, this show has also contributed significantly in the growth of Balaji Telefilms. Sakshi’s character in the serial recently underwent a drastic makeover, to look more modern and strong, a lady who has sworn vengeance on every enemy of hers. Even after several years, the serial continues to enjoy tremendous popularity in India and abroad. Sakshi has worked in a few other serials including the very popular Devi where she plays the central character who is a spiritually inclined woman with a strong connection to Goddess Durga.
